EPOCAST 35-A/927

Main features

  • 149 deg C Laminating Performance
  • 4 to 5-Hour Work Life
  • BMS 8-214 Glass-Fabric Lamination

Product Description

EPOCAST® 35 A / Hardener 927 is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy laminating system for repairing and fabricating laminated composite structures. The 100:25 weight-ratio system has a medium mixed viscosity that readily wets glass fabrics and provides a typical 4–5 hour work life at 25°C for extended fabrication and large repair procedures. The cured system is designed to perform at temperatures up to 149°C and can be processed using either of two elevated-temperature cure cycles. EPOCAST 35 A / Hardener 927 is qualified to BMS 8-214.

Key features

  • High-temperature performance: Designed to perform at temperatures up to 149°C after the specified elevated-temperature cure.
  • Extended working time: Provides a typical 4–5 hour work life for large composite repairs and extended fabrication procedures.
  • Glass-fabric wetting: The 7,000 cP mixed system readily wets glass fabrics for laminated composite construction and repair.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Repair of laminated composite structures
  • Fabrication of glass-fabric composite laminates
  • Composite applications requiring elevated-temperature performance

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
