COOLTHERM SC-6730

Main features

  • Room-Temperature Thick-Section Cure
  • 3.0 to 10.0% Mix Concentration
  • Blue-Green Visual Mix Indicator

Product Description

CoolTherm™ SC-6730 Hardener is a high-viscosity catalyst for use with RTV condensation-cure silicone resins when fast room-temperature cure in thick sections is required. The blue-green liquid supports visual confirmation of thorough mixing and may be used at concentrations from 3.0% to 10.0% by weight, depending on the cure rate required. It cures deep sections without exotherm and provides documented resistance to copper corrosion. Specific mix ratios, application instructions, and cure schedules depend on the selected resin system.

Key features

  • Deep-section cure: Supports room-temperature curing in thick sections without exotherm.
  • Adjustable catalyst concentration: May be used at 3.0% to 10.0% by weight, depending on the cure rate required.
  • Visible mixing indicator: Its blue-green color supports visual examination of mixing uniformity.

Applications / Suitable for

  • RTV condensation-cure silicone resin systems
  • Thick-section silicone curing requiring fast room-temperature cure

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
